This winter, join me on Monday evenings at SHY Practice for a traditional Hatha yoga class - Akhanda style.

Akhanda Yoga, founded by master Dr. Yogrishi Vishvketu, is a holistic and integrated approach to yoga that emphasizes a balanced practice. The word Akhanda means “whole” or “indivisible,” reflecting the comprehensive nature of this style, which incorporates all aspects of yoga into one class: asana (posture), pranayama (breathing techniques), mantra (chanting), meditation, and philosophy.


Akhanda Yoga is designed to provide practitioners with a well-rounded experience that nurtures the body, mind, and spirit. Each class follows a specific theme and flows through a combination of:

Philosophical teachings: Yogic wisdom integrated throughout the practice to inspire self-reflection and personal growth.

Mantra: The use of sound to create a focused and meditative atmosphere.

Asanas: A balanced selection of postures that strengthen, stretch, and align the body.
